Diamond In The Rough
This place was literally a diamond in the rough at the beginning of the last century. Kolmanskop was a small settlement in Namibia that rapidly developed when German settlers realised that the area was rich in diamonds. The wealth and popularity, however, was not to last. After the First World War, the diamonds in this area began to run out. By 1950, this once bustling place was totally deserted. Now, the majority of visitors are tourists and photographers.
